Discover how a traditional home was transformed with vibrant colors, textures, and vintage elements. Designers Karen Williams and Joelle Craig of WilliamsCraig Design share their insights on this captivating makeover.
,,When we first met the homeowners, they were preparing for the arrival of their second child. The house was a project for them to grow in, and they were avid art collectors. The space needed a full overhaul, with small, dark rooms that hadn't been renovated in 70 years.

The designers aimed to create a space with a lot of soul, achieved through texture and color. The front entry featured high-contrast patterned floors and textural pieces. The existing staircase was transformed with a charcoal gray finish to complement the patterned floor.

The designers chose to use found pieces rather than buying everything new. Each piece had a story and added personality to the space. For example, a mirror from Paris became a focal point in the home.

The goal was to make the home feel lived-in and approachable. By incorporating different styles and infusing soul into the space, the designers achieved a home that didn't feel like a showroom.
